About me
With over 25 years dedicated to computer science, STEAM, and inclusive Makerspace education, I am passionate about making technology accessible to all students. As a Tinkercad Teacher Advisory Board member, Maker’s Empire Ambassador, and Qweebi Teacher Advisor, I bring a hands-on approach to CAD, 3D printing, and innovative curriculum development in K-8 education, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and digital literacy. My mission has always been to make technology education accessible to all students, regardless of their background or circumstances. I believe every student has the potential to be an innovator, and I am dedicated to providing them with the tools and opportunities they need to realize that potential. In my workshop,"Harness the Power of Virtual Makerspaces to Create Equitable Access to STEAM " I delve into various tools and platforms available for creating virtual Makerspaces, demonstrating how they engage students in hands-on STEAM activities even when physical Makerspaces aren’t accessible. I also discuss the importance of equity in education and how virtual Makerspaces can bridge gaps for students in under-resourced schools or remote areas. The positive feedback from previous attendees reinforces my belief in the power of virtual Makerspaces as a tool for creating equitable access to STEAM education. In my workshop, "Enhancing Any Curriculum with 3D Printing," I explore how educators can seamlessly integrate 3D printing technology into various subjects to create engaging, hands-on learning experiences. This session showcases successful examples and practical strategies for using 3D printing to deepen student understanding and promote creativity. By empowering educators with innovative techniques, I aim to inspire them to transform their classrooms into dynamic learning environments that encourage exploration and innovation.
